It’s like a train wreck, only better

So yesterday I found a new addiction.

Celebrity Rehab, with Dr Drew.

I just hurt for the people who are on this show.  It’s painful to watch them.  Mostly, I just really, really, really feel blessed that I don’t suffer from an addiction like they do.

At the same time, I am absolutely fascinated by the things they say, their ticks, and they way they are coping with withdrawal.  And also, Dr Drew?  *swoon*

Almost makes you wish you had an addiction.....

Almost makes you wish you had an addiction.....

This season features Gary Busey, Tawny Kitaen, Rodney King, Jeff Conaway, Amber Smith, Nicki McKibbin, Sean Stewart, and Steven Adler.   I’ve heard of the show – but have not actually watched it.  (Mostly because I don’t have cable and rarely even watch tv -but that’s another story).

I’m going to have to keep up on the season as it progresses.  Even if just to see what level of crazy is residing at the Pasadena Recovery Center.  I wish them luck – and hope to see each patient progress towards health.

For the next two weeks, I am dog and house sitting for family friends.  Which means I am also binging on their cable television.  So I had a healthy two and a half hour introductory dose of Celebrity Rehab 2 today.  (And also Princess Diaries, The Bourne Identity, and Mean Girls.)

I have to sadly admit that I’ve watched a few other reality tv shows this weekend including Paris Hilton is my BFF, The Girls Next Door and Real Chance for Love.  It makes me feel even more out of touch with the dysfunction that is rampant in today’s world.  Yet strangely, I can’t keep from watching more of it.

What reality TV do you get hooked on?  Are there any suggestions you have for me to add to my list? (at least for the next few weeks, while I have the cable to binge on!)

  1. Hmm..maybe he could be your addiction that he could “treat” you for. I know, that was lame.
I hate when I get hooked on those reality type shows and try not to do it. I will have to say I have followed “New York” since the second season of Flavor of Love. It’s like wanting to take my eyes off a train wreck but I just keep staring anyway.

  2. My absolute favorite reality TV show is So You Think You Can Dance. I’ve also liked Survivor and Amazing Race, but I’ve given them up because I don’t want to be a slave to my TV (and I don’t have a DVR to record them).

If you’re curious about why I don’t think Christians can vote pro-choice, check out the second and third posts in that series:

Sorry that sounded so salesy, it’s just that those posts address some of the questions you raised, and I thought you might find them interesting.

  3. Wep

OMG to totally love Dr. Drew. YUM

  4. I am addicted to reality tv! I love The Bachelor/ette when they are on!! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog & hope to see you again!

  5. Point blank–Celeb. Rehab is my favorite show and I have a crush on Dr. Drew!!

I was “addicted” last season and I didn’t think it could get any better–but it has!! The addition of Gary Busey has taken the show to a new level!!

I agree that’s it’s so sad they are so messed up–but at the same time–it’s so entertaining!! A very confusing mix!

  6. Hi there, so glad to “meet” you! Even if it was forced by Deb and Jay!
    Ha!

    Good luck with the contest!

And I soooo hate reality TV. Dr. Drew. That would be the stuff nightmares are made of for me. I can soo see how it would get addictive too.

Hubby forces me to watch Sunday night Amazing Race. I hate it, and then I watch the whole thing anyway…??

  7. I am a reality tv junkie. Addicted.
Mostly Project Runway (season is over), America’s Next Top Model and Celebrity Rehab. My hubby and I have laughing so hard whenever Gary Busey says he is “not a patient but a participant” LOL Good stuff!
